DOWNTON ABBEY: A NEW ERA MOVIE REVIEW
Tim: I feel like this movie is very surface level. It coasted along. There wasn't much conflict or friction.
Leigh: No!
Tim: Does everyone just get along all the time? There’s a real sense of community and respect here, but I'm assuming that there was more tumultuousness going on across the 52-episode TV series, because the film's very straighty one-eighty.
Leigh: There had to have been. I mean, it's all very refined, isn't it?
Tim: Oh, yes.
Leigh: The shocks aren't too shocking. The twists aren't too out there. No wounds are picked at too much. It's all very civil. I guess that's what people love about this show and the movies.
Tim: A lot of people have this take on Downton Abbey, that it's just snobby, snobby, snobby. But it's not. It's really quite endearing.
Leigh: Yes.
Tim: Even not knowing much about the history of these characters, you do love them pretty quickly.
