AVATER: THE WAY OF WATER MOVIE REVIEW
Leigh: I was really excited about seeing Kate Winslet in this film. Much has been made of her seven minutes and fourteen seconds long breath hold underwater. Did she get a lot of time underwater?
Tim: No! See, this is something I wanted to talk to you about. There's been so much about her being able to hold her breath for as long as you said. She's been all over the marketing. Countless interviews – it seems to be the only thing she's talking about. She's under the water for like 30 seconds in this movie! She's barely under the bloody water!
Leigh: I will say one thing I absolutely loved was the fact that she's a very heavily pregnant character and that it didn't stop her from getting right into battle, flying out on her steed, attacking people, flipping, doing all sorts of… It just didn't slow her down at all. And I loved seeing that on screen. It felt very empowering to me.
Tim: She was fierce. She knew what she wanted; how to lead her people. It was the perfect role for Kate. And I do think that she will feature more in future films. We'll just have to hold our breath for a little more than seven minutes and fourteen seconds for it.
