Tim: We are huge fans of this Australian director, George Miller. His calibre of filmmaking includes the Mad Max series, The Witches of Eastwick—
Leigh: That is an absolute classic. Don't tell me you haven't seen it.
Tim: What, Mad Max?
Leigh: No, The Witches of Eastwick.
Tim: Oh, absolutely I have. I mean, hello?! Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer, Susan Sarandon... Please, would I be a gay man if I hadn't seen that film?
Leigh: Perfect. And then Babe and Happy Feet.
Tim: And Lorenzo’s Oil. Really mixed genres here. But I love when he plays in this space, specifically.
Leigh: His career is nothing if not eclectic.
Tim: Yes. He's a very dynamic storyteller. The way he moves the camera in subtle and then not-so-subtle ways keeps you alert and very engaged.
Leigh: Sometimes things speed up a little bit, too. You see a lot of that in the trailer. That's why you think his movie is going to be full of that, but it's not. It's used very sparingly.
Tim: I mean, look, he hasn't made a film for seven years. Mad Max: Fury Road – an absolute adventure action classic from 2015 and it is the incarnate of high-octane. So when you compare it to this subtle, gentle story, it just shows his range as a really compelling storyteller.
