A QUIET PLACE PART II MOVIE REVIEW
Leigh: I was curious to see what you thought about this film because when we came out of it, you weren't maybe as excited as I was. Is that the case?
Tim: You're not wrong. We saw it a couple of days ago and I've just let it sizzle in me a little bit. I've thought about it a lot and about what I really appreciated. Yes, there are a few things that don't sit well with me, which we'll discuss, but I think all in all, I really, really enjoyed A Quiet Place Part II.
Leigh: Would you say one of the things that doesn't work well is, well, let's call out the elephant in the room… We wouldn't have a movie if people didn't make stupid decisions.
Tim: Yes.
Leigh: Right? I think most of the time in this film, it's the children that you just want to scream at: ‘Don't do that! What are you doing?’ But I think that's in keeping with their characters.
Tim: Yeah. Some of the decisions they made didn't make a lot of sense. They were… You could maybe put it under the category of dumb. However, the biggest point that you've made just now is that they’re children. Heck, I'm 33 years old. It’s not that I make dumb decisions that cause people to die, like in this film, but I make dumb choices. These are kids. They're allowed to trip up. And I think that is realised really well. It's a trope of this sort of genre, you know, things have to go wrong, decisions have to be made that don't make sense because it then allows some sort of drama or conflict as a result.
