KAJILLIONAIRE MOVIE REVIEW

Tim: This week we saw quite a weird and strange, but wonderful film called Kajillionaire, which is about con artists Teresa and Robert, who have spent 26 years training their daughter, Old Dolio, to scam and steal at every opportunity. During a desperate heist, they charm a stranger into joining their family only to have their entire world turned upside down.

Leigh: Kajillionaire stars Debra Winger, Richard Jenkins, Evan Rachel Wood and Gina Rodriguez.

Tim: I think this film was a beautiful representation of great performances by really fantastic actors.

Leigh: Definitely. And you said a weird movie. I'd call it quirky maybe...

Tim: Quirky AF!

Leigh: Quirky, so quirky. It's written and directed by Miranda July, who wrote and directed Me And You And Everyone We Know. She's actually a performance artist and a writer – and I could feel that performance artist influence coming through the movie, couldn't you?

Tim: You could feel it a lot in Evan Rachel Woods’ performance because there was some physicality about her role that felt very performance art.

Leigh: The way they moved and the things they did, even the bubbles in the home that they're living in. They're living in this bubble factory and bubbles seep through into where they're sleeping at regular intervals, which was so weird, but even that felt like a beautiful piece of performance art.
